This meeting will review new technologies appropriate for both advanced and early stage clinical trials, and will be of interest to research workers at all levels with a particular interested in translational research. The meeting has a European orientation, and has been developed in collaboration with in UK Cancer Research Centres and Experimental Cancer Medical Centres as well as the NOCI centres designated by the EORTC. Researchers from outside these Centres are welcome to attend and participate in the discussions. A lunchtime session on tissue banking is included, and will be followed by presentation of selected trials where translational research has a key role. The expert rapporteurs have been asked to comment on these presentations and technologies and point the way towards the future design of translational studies to be carried out in academic centres, in many cases with the support of industry.
What is transational research?
