New little laptop for $300?

Rumour has it that there's another cheap little laptop planned.

This one is coming from Thailand from Norhtec, a systems integrator that specializes in tiny servers.

The company is working on what they call the Gecko Laptop.

The tiny system will be built by Quanta, and is powered by Linux Lite from Linpus Technologies.

The laptop is expected to have a seven-inch screen.

It has a pretty big keyboard and a touchpad. It's powered by a Via C7M ULV chip.

The rest about Gecko is a secret but according to the rumours the company will announce the laptop soon, and it will sell for less than $300.

More good news for the working poor.

Hmm...now if only other computer companies would sell their new laptops for around that much. But then I shouldn't complain, you can buy decent laptops for $700 these days.
