That's what I would like, doesn't look very green does it? It's a tesla
Lighter autos, better hybrids and high-tech diesels are coming to car lots, along with electric cars rechargeable at home and conventional gasoline engines reworked for higher mileage.
What will hit the market by 2012 won't break the nation's reliance on imported oil, but at least drivers now drained by princely fuel bills will be able to find autos capable of running an estimated 20 percent to 35 percent farther on a tank of gas.
This is how Ted Evanoff of the Indy Star sees it.
So it will happen, but not too soon and not completely as we expect it it seems.
