Feed your pet with your cell phone.

November 19th 2007 07:52
Feed pet
Remote pet feed.

Should you have a pet under these conditions? not much of a life for it.

This is not cheap and it's available in Japan.

You can control this device with your cell phone or PC. We're taking the Know out of tech- know-logy I think.

We should stay connected with our pets, giving them love and a life, not just a remote feed, don't you agree? we need to KNOW our pets, touch ,feel, play etc.

Hmm, it might be practical and inventive, but I like feeding my dog in his bowl...that one looks too clinical for me....

Hahaha katyzzz. You stole my line. I was going to say 'A mobile phone is not a nutritious meal'.

I'd need 4 of them in the house, and another 20 or so really big ones, out in the paddock.

Does defeat the purpose of having a pet, if you can't even get home to feed them. Perhaps a teddy bear would be more suitable. Much cheaper too.

Hi Techno,

I agree that pets are just that, and should be petted, daily.

However, with my father nearing the end of his life, we are forced to go away and leave the family pet overnight. It is a six hour drive each way and that makes for a rather exhausting weekend, as I will not kennel the cat and stress her unduly for such frequent short periods.

I don't agree with dry food, but desperate times call for desperate measures and I always worry that she'll gobble it all up in the first 12 hours.

This could add an extra day to our trip and really ease the drama, all round.

For that it is a great idea ... and I'm giving it the thumbs up...otherwise a resounding thumbs-down from someone who cannot compare the joy, the love of her pet brings to her life.

Lilla ...

I take it that this little device would come under the heading of Pet Hates with most respondees.

Given the Japanese also came up with Furr-real play pets - does it suprise anyone?

Hmmm - think I'll take my chances with the ravenous labradors who actually appreciate me in their lives come dinner time.

Lilla, your predicament is understandable,

MNG you join with all of us in wanting contact with our pooches.

all I can say is ... my goodness

it certainly does have a practical application, BUT, like hte others said, why have a pet if this is its primary carer.

Hm.. Electronic feeders are bad for pets, especially dogs. It's so much better to enforce that you are the alpha in the pack by feeding your dog manually. Feeders like these and other electronic feeders can create alpha/beta concerns because the dog isn't being fed by the owner. ... Although, they can be great for cats.
