February 14th 2011 08:48
internet Algeria facebook shut down

Riot police block protesters during a demonstration in downtown Algiers, January 22, 2011. A small group of Algerian opposition supporters trying to hold a banned protest clashed with police in the capital and several people were injured, protest organizers and official media said on Saturday.

The authorities in Algeria have shut down internet providers and Facebook accounts amidst mounting anti-government protests and civil unrest

It seems the internet is a force in international politics and the crooks and thugs who run governments don't like it.

Even facebook has an influence, the voice of the people I guess.

Hurrah for freedom of speech and freedom of information.

the thugs have to go, viz a viz Egypt, others will follow, let's hope they are replaced with honourable men not just more of the same.
