Acer to launch budget laptops.
February 15th 2008 03:57
From the Financial Times UK.
"Acer, the world's third-largest computer vendor after Hewlett-Packard and Dell, had rejected the idea of selling low-cost computers when a non-profit project, the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child), pioneered the idea. But it changed its mind after Asustek, a smaller Taiwanese rival, launched a low-cost laptop that met with strong demand.
Asustek's EeePC, a laptop available to run on Linux or Microsoft with a 7-inch screen and no hard drive, sells for US$200-US$400"
